REIKI TREATMENTS

If you are thinking of a Reiki treatment, you are definitely in the right place!

I have been practising and developing Reiki for around 11 years now and during that time have given around 5000 treatments. I believe in order to be a good mentor and facilitor of Reiki Classes, I need to be practising Reiki regularly.  I run a clinic from homeon a Thursday (and sometimes Saturdays if I am not teaching) and see between 10 -15 clients per week. I have been researching Reiki and mentor many students as they start their own practice.  I started the Reiki Cancer Support Team way of working around 5 years ago and we have helped many people as a result and now have healing teams in Southampton, Eastleigh, Bishops Waltham and Emsworth.

"I knew early on that Reiki had so much to offer, so much so, that I decided that I wanted to specialise in one area.  I'm glad I made that decision as to date, I haven't actually found anything that couldn't be treated with Reiki" - Sharon Carrington

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A TREATMENT

On your first treatment, we ask you to allow up to 2 hours for the appointment.  I will talk to you about Reiki, what you want to get out of the sessions and probably most importantly, we will be chatting about why your body is ill.

The Reiki treatment will take between 45-55 minutes, you will asked to lie on a couch and you will probably have a blanket placed over you.  I'll make sure that you are comfortable and put some soothing background music on.  We may also light candles or burn incense or aromatherapy oils.

All you need to do is close your eyes and relax, we will do the rest!

We will place our hands either on or above the body and channel healing energy into the areas needing attention.

Some people experience different sensations during the session, although it is very normal to feel relaxed or to even drift off to sleep!

Some people experience a range of sensations and these can include feelings of hot, cold, tingly, some even report seeing colours during the treatment.  This is all totally normal and a natural response to a Reiki treatment.

WHAT TECHNIQUES WILL BE USED IN MY TREATMENT?

I have my own style of Reiki which has been developing over the past years.  In addition to Usui Reiki, I also practice Karuna and Rainbow Reiki.  This allows me to work with your body and treat the areas most in need.  The techniques that I use in my treatment will be chosen to give healing in the quickest and most efficient way, this may include chanting, tibetan bells or bowls, smudge (a bit like incense) the use of prayers and mala beads, guided meditation or lemurian chanting (a bit like singing).  I also use the meridian system to unblock pain and congestion and you may be aware of energy being released as I work on these levels.

FOLLOWING YOUR TREATMENT

You will be encouraged to drink plenty of water for the next 24 hours and to take it easy.   Some people experience a "Healing Crisis" whereby the body reacts to shifts in energy, these can range from headaches, tiredness, flu like symptoms, increase pain in areas being treated, a bit tearful and very rarely a client will end up in bed for a day.  These are all very natural reactions to Reiki and it is a good sign that things are moving and that Reiki is working.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO YOU NEED?

We recommend that to give Reiki a good go, that you initially book 4 treatments at weekly intervals.  We would expect to see an improvement on session 2 or 3.  Usually symptoms are either cleared or noticably improved after 4 sessions and we will then suggest that you come back in either 2 weeks, 4 weeks or 6 weeks for what we call "general maintenance".

WHAT CAN BE TREATED WITH REIKI?

Absolutely anything is the truthful answer, although we often specialise in a given area.  My specialist areas are Cancer Support, Long Term Chronic Pain, Bereavement and Depression.
